Conflict is what yields true harmony because we cannot very well articulate our desires, intentions, fears. When they boil up and rise to the surface, this causes conflict and we have no choice but to face the underlying causes. Conflict does not come out of thin air.
Getting through the conflict, wanting to get through, in an interpersonal relationship, is what builds intimacy. Because if you did not care about the relationship, you would not put energy and effort into resolving the conflict. You would not care what your friend or the other person is going through, you would not try to take accountability or make amends if the relationship was not important to you. Getting through conflict, mending pain, seeing where you went wrong, getting to the core of the issue and putting effort into being better so that the conflict can be resolved shows that you care about the relationship.
On a larger scale, the conflict that our country is facing is from our history, and it is such a large conflict now because the desires, fears, and feelings of people can no longer be hidden.
But this conflict allows us to emerge better than we started. It gives us a spur, an incentive, so to say, to help get over issues that have always been present, but maybe just hiding below.
